Lenoir Police will be using drones. 5 officers are training to get a Federal Aviation Administration license. They will operate a drone for assessing car wrecks, crime scenes and disaster areas. The drone cost was $9,000, purchased with assets seized during arrests and investigations. Use of the technology can make 8 hours of photos and measurement collection complete in 20 minutes according to the Lenoir Police Dept.
